Today, an important meeting was held in Borås between the chairman of the Palestinian Vision Society, Mohamed Karraz, and the chairman of the Municipal Council, Ulf Olsson, in the presence of the head of international relations in the Social Democratic Party, Nikolas Malak, and the association's media officer, Adam Hindiya. The meeting focused on the current situation in Gaza and the ongoing Israeli aggression causing genocide and great human suffering.
One of the main issues discussed during the meeting was the association's request to Borås Municipality to boycott Israeli products. Ulf Olsson emphasized the possibility of imposing a full boycott of Israeli products in Borås. The association highlighted the importance of such a measure as a way to protest against Israel's aggressive policies and to call for respect for human rights in the Palestinian territories. This proposal is part of the association's broader efforts to shed light on the ongoing violations in Gaza and urge the international community to take a firm stand against the occupation.
Mohamed Karraz highlighted the serious humanitarian situation in Gaza, where the population is facing genocide from the Israeli occupation forces, which the International Court of Justice has also confirmed. Karraz explained that there is an acute shortage of medicines and medical equipment, as well as food, which exacerbates the suffering of the local population.
Karraz emphasized the importance of the Swedish government and the European Parliament putting pressure to immediately stop the war and assist in the reconstruction of Gaza. He also stressed the need to urge all European countries to fully recognize the state of Palestine as a step towards achieving justice and peace in the region.
The meeting also discussed the joint activities between the Palestinian Vision Society and the Social Democratic Party, which aim to support the Palestinian people and raise awareness about the Palestinian issue in Sweden. Nikolas Malak stressed the importance of strengthening these activities at present and pointed out that they reflect solidarity with the Palestinians and help convey a realistic picture of their suffering to the international community.
This meeting was part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation between the local community in Borås and the Palestinian institutions, as well as to confirm solidarity with the Palestinian people in their struggle against aggression and genocide. The participants in the meeting emphasized the importance of continuing these efforts and the joint work to achieve justice and peace for Palestine.
